Hot Tub Maintenance Packages

Water Testing & Balancing

During our hot tub/swim spa maintenance visits, we carefully test and adjust the water’s chemical levels, ensuring they are properly balanced. Our comprehensive chemical maintenance services include all necessary tests and adjustments, including:

  • pH level – Maintaining a pH level between 7.2 and 7.8 prevents skin irritation while reducing the risk of equipment corrosion
  • Alkalinity – Proper alkalinity serves as a buffer, stabilizing the pH
  • Water hardness:
  • High hardness/hard water leads to scale buildup and makes it challenging to balance the pH
  • Low hardness/soft water can be corrosive to metal components and the surface of your hot tub
  • Sanitizer levels – Preserving the correct levels of sanitizers like chlorine and bromine ensures a healthy balance between effective disinfection and user comfort
Symptoms
Cause
Solution
Cloudy water Excessive organic contaminants or lack of sanitizer Shock treat with non-chlorine shock and adjust sanitizer level
Dissolved chemical solids Use clarifier to help remove small particles
pH balance or total alkalinity is incorrect Test total alkalinity and pH. Correct with pH increaser or pH decreaser.
Calcium too high (hard water) Use a sequestering agent weekly. Replace some water with softer water.
Dirty filter Clean filter with filter cartridge cleaner.
Chalky, white scale deposits Mineral deposits in water Use a sequestering agent. Check water balance and adjust as necessary.
Clear green water High iron or copper content Use a sequestering agent
Cloudy green water Low alkalinity level Use pH increaser
low sanitizer level Test sanitizer level, shock with non-chlorine shock
Brown water High iron or manganese level Use a sequestering agent
Chlorine odor Chloramines (combined chlorine level) is high. Shock with non-chlorine shock
Eye/skin irritation Organic contaminants, chloramines, or pH out of balance Shock with non-chlorine shock. Test and adjust pH level.
Foaming High concentration of chemicals due to evaporation and build-up of body oils, cosmetics and other contaminants Use foam reducer. Shock treat with non-chlorine shock. Use enzyme reducer weekly as part of regular maintenance
Pitting of metal fixtures pH too low Test and adjust pH and total alkalinity by adding pH up.
Total alkalinity too low

Hot Tub Cleaning

During chemical maintenance, we perform a deep cleaning on your hot tub, including:

  • Filter cleaning
  • Waterline wipe down and cleanse
  • Hot tub cover wipe down and cleanse

Water Level Check and Adjustment

Over time, water may evaporate or splash out during regular use. Our hot tub technicians ensure the water is at the correct level, maximizing the efficiency of the hot tub pumps while keeping your hot tub in optimal condition.

For instance, One Stop Hot Tub Shop offers monthly and twice-monthly chemical maintenance plans, ensuring your hot tub is always ready for use. We also provide custom maintenance packages catering to your specific needs.

When you purchase a new hot tub, One Stop Hot Tub Shop offers three months of chemical maintenance.

Drain, Clean, and Refill

Your hot tub should be drained, cleaned, and refilled every three to four months. This helps prevent the buildup of debris, oils, and scale in the water.

Hot Tub Drain, Clean, and Refill Process

  • Fully drain the hot tub with our industrial-quality pump
  • Wipe down the interior, removing any biofilm, dirt, and grime
  • Vacuum any remaining debris, ensuring your hot tub is thoroughly cleaned
  • Refill the hot tub with fresh water that we chemically balance

Opening/Summerize

Hot Tub/Swim Spa Openings (Summerizing Services)

Provided that you’ve close your hot tub/swim spa during the colder months, our opening services ensure readiness for this coming season use.

Overall, our summerizing process includes the following services:

  • Rinse, wipe down, vacuum, and refill the tub
  • Clean or recommend replacement of the filter cartridge
  • Clean the hot tub cover
  • Perform operational diagnostics, ensuring the proper functioning of the heater, pumps, blower, and controls
  • Chlorinated shock – This disinfects the water and kills unwanted bacteria

Freeze damage coverage under our winterization guarantee applies only to hot tubs and swim spas that were winterized by our company during the prior season.

Closing/Winterize

Hot Tub/Swim Spa Closings (Winterizing Services)

At One Stop Hot Tub Shop, we believe that wintertime can provide optimal weather for getting in your hot tub. However, we help many Long Islanders who need their hot tubs closed during the winter.

Overall, our winterizing process includes the following services:

  • Draining and rinsing out the hot tub
  • Fully blowing out the plumbing lines to prevent freeze damage
  • Draining water from all pumps
  • Covering the hot tub, protecting it from environmental damage

In fact, our technicians NEVER use antifreeze, keeping you and your family safe and healthy.

For those customers who use their hot tubs year-round, our maintenance services will ensure the water remains properly heated and balanced during colder months.

Freeze damage coverage under our winterization guarantee is valid only if our company performs the opening (summerization) service in the following season.
